Monte Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Dawson School 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Judah Howe was incredible, firing off two home runs and eight RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayse Bouet, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Monte Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Peyton sidestepped Las Animas for a 2-1 win. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.
Zayden Ebbert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Peyton's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Monte Vista, their win bumped their record up to 23-0.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Monte Vista has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .561. However, it's not like Peyton struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monte Vista got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Peyton by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
