Santa Clara has won 15 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Menlo School has won 15 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Bruins will host the Knights at 3:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Santa Clara 3.4, Menlo School 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Santa Clara is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let West Valley get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Bruins have won 18 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Drew Diffenderfer's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Connor Houle was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Jaxton Chao was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Menlo School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Woodland Christian by a score of 15-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this contest were averaging 3.06 runs allowed.
The team relied heavily on Chuck Wynn, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Cahill, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Menlo School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.
Santa Clara has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 24 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Menlo School, their win bumped their record up to 23-8.
Santa Clara came up short against Menlo School in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 9-4. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
