The New Washington Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lanesville, falling 67-26. While losing is never fun, New Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Lanesville is ranked 31st).
Lanesville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hadley Crosier out in front who scored 20 points along with seven assists. Ava Kerr was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
New Washington's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-9. As for Lanesville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Washington will take on Switzerland County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lanesville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Floyd Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
