The Newman Greenies will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Beaumont United Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Newman faced Madison Prep Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Newman fell 52-43 to Madison Prep Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Newman has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Beaumont United unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 85-65 loss at the hands of Atascocita. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Loss or not, Beaumont United got some senior leadership from Clarence Payia who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds and Weston Davis who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Payia's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayde Dotson, who scored 16 points.
Newman's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4. As for Beaumont United, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-1.
