The Miramonte Matadors had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 50-25 margin over Alhambra. Given Miramonte's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 549th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Karena Eberts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Quinn Ferguson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Miramonte is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Alhambra, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Miramonte will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Ygnacio Valley: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Matadors have snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. Alhambra will take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully College Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
