The Newton Rams will square off against the Fellowship Christian Paladins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
While Newton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Heritage on Friday as Newton made off with a 15-4 win. The Rams have beaten the Patriots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.
Dare'On Adkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Adkins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fellowship Christian). They put the hurt on Osborne with a sharp 12-1 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Paladins.
Like Newton, Fellowship Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Lawson Ivey. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Ivey has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple.
In other batting news, Walker Waggoner was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Trummie Patrick, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Fellowship Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Fellowship Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Newton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Fellowship Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Newton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for Fellowship Christian, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Newton's hitters?
Newton couldn't quite finish off Fellowship Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will Newton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
