Tranquillity is 0-10 against Dos Palos since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. Tranquillity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Tranquillity couldn't beat Kings Christian on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 8-7.
Tranquillity saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Julian Dominguez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos entered their tilt with Mendota on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Aztecs by a score of 8-5.
Trevin Vincent made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gilbert Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Dos Palos: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-13 otherwise. Drake Jasso also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Dos Palos' record now sits at 11-13. As for Tranquillity, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tranquillity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Dos Palos struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tranquillity might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Dos Palos when the teams last played back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
