Chestnut Ridge has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Bishop Carroll Huskies at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Chestnut Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday.
Chestnut Ridge lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Bishop McCort 66-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Chestnut Ridge has suffered against Bishop McCort since December 18, 2019.
Loss or not, Chestnut Ridge got some senior leadership from Isabella Hillegass and Ashlie Weaver. Hillegass scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Weaver. scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Hillegass has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Bishop Carroll scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 65-18 victory over North Star at home. Winning may never get old, but Bishop Carroll sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Chestnut Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Bishop Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Chestnut Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bishop Carroll when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 42-38 win.
