Northgate is 1-9 against East Coweta since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Northgate made easy work of Whitewater and carried off an 18-3 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Northgate got a great performance from Ella Coburn as she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Coburn has posted over her last seven matchups.

Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
East Coweta came out on top against Heard County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run first inning. The Indians blew past the Braves 16-3. East Coweta's victory was all the more impressive since the Braves were averaging only 3.75 runs allowed on the season.
McKenna Holmes looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gaby Gopie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Joiner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Northgate's win bumped their record up to 20-6. As for East Coweta, their victory bumped their record up to 20-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northgate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like East Coweta struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northgate might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from East Coweta in their previous matchup on Monday. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
