The West Wolfpack's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight defeat. Their rough 56-30 defeat to Marysville might stick with them for a while. West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-9.
Leading Marysville to victory were Abigail Pietz and Demi Boykin. Pietz scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Boykin scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. It was the first time this season that Boykin pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Krystal Briggs, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Marysville, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
West will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marysville, they will head out on the road to face off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheatland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 824th, while the Indians are ranked 168th).
