The St. Mary's Cardinals stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Boyd County 83-36 on the road. St. Mary's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Alissa Brabec, who went 11 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lorissa Reiman, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Boyd County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mckenzie Snyder. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Paige Drueke was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
The victory (which was St. Mary's 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Boyd County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Holt on February 8th. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Boyd County, they will head out on the road to square off against Niobrara/Verdigre at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Niobrara/Verdigre is facing Boyd County at the right time seeing as Boyd County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
