Even though the Mira Loma Matadors have not done well against the Woodland Wolves recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Mira Loma strolled past Woodland with points to spare, taking the game 41-26. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mira Loma.
Allison Canafe was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Demi Tawadrous, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Woodland still got an impressive performance from Joie Perez, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Perez hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Lucy Lopez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
The win got Mira Loma back to even at 8-8. As for Woodland, they bumped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rio Linda the next time they take the court. Mira Loma will host Rio Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Woodland will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
