The Concord Bears will face off against the American Canyon Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Concord is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
American Canyon will be up against a hot Concord squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Concord's pitcher stepped up to hand Mission San Jose an 8-0 shutout on Thursday.
Max Dashner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. Dashner was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Machado, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Hunt, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Concord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission San Jose only posted a batting average of .048.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, American Canyon was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell 6-2 to Maria Carrillo. The game marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Mason Harris was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
American Canyon now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Concord, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Concord has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like American Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Concord suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to American Canyon when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Concord avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
