Baseball Recap: Sun Valley Magnet Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sun Valley Magnet entered their tilt with Community Charter on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Titans 14-4. Considering the Pioneers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Manuel Marquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Sun Valley Magnet is 7-2 when Marquez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Marquez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times he's played.

In other pitching news, Diego Loredo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Sun Valley Magnet is 8-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Manuel Baltazar was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Luis Marquez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sun Valley Magnet's record now sits at 11-7. As for Community Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
