Basketball Recap: Fallbrook Takes a Loss

If Fallbrook was riding high fresh off their 57-25 takedown of Mira Mesa on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 49-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fallbrook still got an impressive performance from Grace Nordeen, who dropped a double-double with 38 points and 16 rebounds. Nordeen's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 22 points. Emery Pizzo was another key player, putting up seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Rancho Buena Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arika Gonzales, who shot 64% from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. Those 23 points gave Gonzales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Minel Bur, who went 6-for-14 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Fallbrook dropped their record down to 3-2 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rancho Buena Vista, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Fallbrook has already played their next matchup, a 74-40 loss against Murrieta Mesa on the 6th. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-59 win against Rancho Bernardo on the 6th.
