Gopher Valley A recap Sept. 26, 2012
Blake Langerud of Bethlehem Academy ran for the longest rushing play in Gopher Valley A this season against Loyola last week. Langerud ran for 55 yards on the play and finished with 102 on the day as his team bested the Crusaders.
Blooming Prairie was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Awesome Blossoms defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 54-28.
Bethlehem Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Filzen threw for 25 and two touchdowns and Tim Angell had 17 yards receiving. On the ground Filzen chipped in 117 yards. Adam Clark helped Bethlehem Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Bethlehem Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Filzen has thrown for 194 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Angell has eight catches for 108 yards. Filzen also leads the league in rushing with 305 yards.
A big matchup in Gopher Valley A this week will be when Loyola takes on Blooming Prairie. The Crusaders are currently in seventh, while the Awesome Blossoms are in third.
Scott Hanson's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Loyola, 48-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Cardinals.
