If the Mt. Carmel Sundevils were feeling good off their 47-18 takedown of the Holtville Vikings last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mt. Carmel was beaten by Eastlake 69-42 on Wednesday. Mt. Carmel has not had much luck with Eastlake recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Grace Weede, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Mt. Carmel were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastlake only pulled down 29.
Eastlake found their leader in underclassman Jordyn Worley, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Catrice Chan, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Mt. Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Eastlake, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Mt. Carmel's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Eastlake, they will head out on the road to face off against Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
