Highland took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Bakersfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Highland won by a run and slipped past Bakersfield 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Scots, who have now won five contests in a row.

Jeremiah England looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Highland's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Blanco, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Highland pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bakersfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8-1.
