Baseball Recap: Farragut's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Farragut's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Steinmetz College Prep Silver Streaks. The result was nothing new for the Admirals, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Nico Roman and Freddy Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Roman pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Garcia struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Roman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI, while Garcia got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI. Garcia is becoming a predictor of Farragut's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Yoel Guerra was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Farragut is undefeated when Guerra posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert DeMateo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Farragut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win snapped Farragut's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-5 record. As for Steinmetz College Prep, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Farragut will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Silver Streaks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
