The Orange Glen Patriots will take on the High Tech Mesa Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange Glen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Orange Glen had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Guajome Park Academy put an end to it on Thursday. The Patriots fell just short of the Frogs by a score of 3-2. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Nicki Cardenas was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Cardenas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask High Tech Mesa). Everything went their way against Guajome Park Academy on Monday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Thunder not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 5, 2025 (when they won 16-2).
Like Orange Glen, High Tech Mesa also got a great game from a two-way player: Rocco D'Esti. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). D'Esti also tossed a walk, which is notable because High Tech Mesa is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. D'Esti was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Monroe, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. High Tech Mesa is undefeated when Monroe posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Henry Kristofferson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
High Tech Mesa pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Orange Glen, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Orange Glen has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like High Tech Mesa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
