Several Wildcatz players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephanie Martinez, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Fernanda Lazo, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Watsonville were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Salinas is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Watsonville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Salinas will be playing in front of their home fans against Alisal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alisal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Salinas likes a good challenge. As for Watsonville, they will head out on the road to square off against Monterey at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monterey is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
