The Eastside Lions were the 56-24 winner over the Antelope Valley Antelopes when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Eastside fell 56-43 to Antelope Valley on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while Antelope Valley is ranked 292nd).
Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Aprill Medrano, who scored 17 points. Medrano scored a full 39.5% of Eastside's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Antelope Valley to victory were Ariana Soil and Niya Price. Soil scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds, while Price scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds. The game was Price's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jenesis Deering was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Antelope Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Eastside will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Quartz Hill at 5:00 p.m. As for Antelope Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
