Western Christian hasn't had much luck against Woodcrest Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Fighting Lancers will take on the Royals at 1:00 p.m. Western Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Woodcrest Christian will be coming in after a loss.
Western Christian will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against The Webb Schools on Wednesday. The Fighting Lancers walked away with an 11-7 win over the Gauls. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Lancers in their matchups with the Gauls: they've now won six in a row.

Josh Turner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Western Christian is 3-1 when Turner posts one or more home runs, but 4-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Will Stradley was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Western Christian: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Jacob Casas was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Western Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Woodcrest Christian suffered their closest defeat since March 8th on Thursday. They fell just short of Valley Christian by a score of 5-3.
Woodcrest Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden Anderson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Woodcrest Christian has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Western Christian, their record now sits at 7-8.
Western Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Fighting Lancers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Woodcrest Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Western Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Western Christian came up short against Woodcrest Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, falling 7-3. Can the Fighting Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
