Rangeview had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 3-12-1 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the Widefield Gladiators. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.
Rangeview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anabelle Velasco, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
As for Widefield, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 10-2-1 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Widefield's side, Olivia McEwen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McEwen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other batting news, Susy Salvidrez and Isabella Monk did most of the damage at the plate: Salvidrez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Monk went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Monk has posted since back in September of 2024. Taylor Hall was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Rangeview will head out on the road to square off against Thomas Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.25 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Widefield, they will host Coronado at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gladiators will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
