In what's become a running theme this season, the Shafter Generals gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 56-28 victory over Kennedy at home. The win was familiar territory for Shafter who now have seven in a row.
Shafter found their leader in underclassman Sydnee Macias, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Macias scored 15 or more points. Kyla Schooley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Valeria Payan, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Devani Ochoa, who scored two points along with two steals and two blocks.
Kennedy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Shafter pulled down 30 offensive rebounds.
Shafter pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.5 points. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Shafter will head out on the road to challenge Wasco at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Wasco is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Kennedy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Chavez at 6:30 p.m. Chavez will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
