The Yreka Miners had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Central Valley 51-32 on Wednesday. The victory was just what Yreka needed coming off of a 71-42 loss in their prior game.
Yreka's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emmie Freitas led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Alexes Collier, who scored 14 points.
Yreka's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Central Valley, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yreka will take on West Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yreka in California (West Valley is ranked 179th, while Yreka is ranked 556th). As for Central Valley, they will be playing at home against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
