It was a good run, but the Quaker Valley Quakers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Bishop Canevin 61-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Quaker Valley still got an impressive performance from Joey Coyle, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Coyle scored a full 38.6% of Quaker Valley's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dana Kromah, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Bishop Canevin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Cross Jr led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten steals. The match was Cross Jr's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Maddix, who scored 15 points.
Quaker Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Bishop Canevin, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quaker Valley will take on East Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Allegheny is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Bishop Canevin and Nazareth Prep will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Nazareth Prep is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
