Amador Valley and Dublin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Amador Valley 3.5, Dublin 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Amador Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Monte Vista just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-4.
Amador Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vince Maiorana, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kade Robertson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Dublin hadn't beaten San Ramon Valley on the road since April 18, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Gaels came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gaels have posted since April 16, 2025.
Jonah Marquez got the start for Dublin and what a start it was: he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Marquez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. Matthew Phelps picked up the save, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
Dublin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ramon Valley only posted a batting average of .240.
Amador Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Amador Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dublin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Amador Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Dublin when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 4-1. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Gaels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
