The Frederick Golden Eagles pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Mead by a score of 63-60. Frederick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mead apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March.
Despite the loss, Frederick still got an impressive performance from Jovan Aldana, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. JJ Strojinc was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Leading Mead to victory were Dominic McLawrence and Matthew Angelo. McLawrence scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds, while Angelo scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Weese, who scored 10 points.
Frederick's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mead, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Frederick will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday. As for Mead, they will be playing at home against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
