Mayer and North Valley Christian Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Mayer Wildcats the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the North Valley Christian Academy Lions at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
Mayer posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Music Mountain, posting a 61-34 victory at home.
Mayer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Danni McCann, who scored 32 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which McCann has scored at least a third of Mayer's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor McCann, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Valley Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Phoenix Preparatory Academy 65-25 on the road. Winning may never get old, but North Valley Christian Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
The victory got Mayer back to even at 10-10-1. As for North Valley Christian Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11.
Mayer was taken down by North Valley Christian Academy 50-19 in their previous matchup last Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Valley Christian Academy's Kalina Santor, who scored 20 points along with nine steals. Now that Mayer knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
