The Laton Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Alpaugh 39-17. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Laton has managed all season.
Among those leading the charge was Valerie Silva, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Jade Perez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Alpaugh lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carolina Arrieta, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Arrieta is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Laton's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Alpaugh, they bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Laton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tranquillity at 4:30 p.m. on January 17th. Tranquillity comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Alpaugh will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kings Christian at 5:45 p.m. on January 30th.
