Skyline will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Oakland on Wednesday. The Titans blew past the Wildcats 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-11 margin over American Canyon.
Benji Fuentes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Moreau Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Fuentes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micah Marks, who went 3-for-5 with six runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Fabian Alvarez was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Moreau Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Skyline has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Moreau Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
