Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Valwood

While Valwood's victory against St. John Paul II wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Valiants skirted past the Panthers 7-5. The win was nothing new for the Valiants as they're now sitting on three straight.

Valwood saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dustin Gibbs, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Gibbs is becoming a predictor of the Valiants' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

Valwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. John Paul II, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Coincidentally, Valwood and St. John Paul II will both be playing Brookwood the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Valiants will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
