James Logan is 10-0 against Kennedy since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The James Logan Colts will be playing at home against the Kennedy Titans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (James Logan has four straight wins, Kennedy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Tuesday, James Logan didn't have too much trouble with Newark Memorial as they won 43-24. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Cougars are ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
James Logan found their leader in freshman Tyliyah Miller, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Momo Johnson, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.
James Logan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kennedy played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Moreau Catholic, falling 57-36. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Despite the defeat, Kennedy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Payton Siquig had 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Izabella Velazquez was another key player, putting up two points and six boards.
James Logan pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Kennedy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: James Logan has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for James Logan against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 68-30 win. Does James Logan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kennedy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
