It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Vista del Lago Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout. Given Vista del Lago's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Patterson is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vista del Lago was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Hannah DaSilva and
Anna Olson, who scored both of Vista del Lago's goals. The pair have combined for a total of nine so far this season.
Vista del Lago is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5-2 record this season. As for Patterson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-4.
Vista del Lago will face off against Rio Americano at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rio Americano will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Vista del Lago surely won't give up without a fight. Patterson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
