Victory Baptist has won five straight games at home, while Scholars Guild Academy has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Warrior will host the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Victory Baptist beat Covenant Christian Academy 6-1.
Asher Alexander was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DJ Jones, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Dominick Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand North Georgia HomeSchool a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Victory Baptist, Scholars Guild Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Ty Newton. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Newton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Scholars Guild Academy let Sebastian Kenny and Henry Rumble run wild. Kenny scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Rumble scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Scholars Guild Academy is undefeated when Rumble posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Chupp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Georgia HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .222.
Scholars Guild Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Victory Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
