Enterprise hasn't had much luck against Loyd Star recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Loyd Star took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Enterprise, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Enterprise turned things around against Salem last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Wildcats.
Terra Vining made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Isabella Jordan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ember Douglas, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
South Panola hit Loyd Star with a six-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 4-0 in the first period.
Layla Burt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddie Kate Britt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Enterprise's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Loyd Star, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Enterprise hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Loyd Star struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Enterprise might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Loyd Star in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Yellowjackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
