Baseball Recap: Westminster Schools of Augusta Triumphs

Westminster Schools of Augusta took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Aquinas, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Fightin' Irish 2-1 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Fightin' Irish back in February, they had to take a 13-3 defeat.

Charlie Grinalds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Westminster Schools of Augusta is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise.

The win got Westminster Schools of Augusta back to even at 6-6. As for Aquinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.

Westminster Schools of Augusta will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bulloch Academy at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Aquinas, they will head out on the road to square off against Academy of Richmond County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
