Having just played yesterday, the Jenkintown Drakes will jump right back in to play the Renaissance Academy Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, Jenkintown suffered a tough 40-20 defeat at the hands of Sacred Heart Academy. Jenkintown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Renaissance Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by Phoenixville 70-42. Renaissance Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.
Despite their defeat, Renaissance Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Saydi Daye, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. The match was Daye's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Burkholder, who scored 12 points.
Renaissance Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Jenkintown now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Renaissance Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Jenkintown came out on top in a nail-biter against Renaissance Academy when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 34-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jenkintown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
