The Stockdale Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Notre Dame (SO) Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stockdale will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Stockdale will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Clovis, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Stockdale walked away with an 11-6 win over Clovis on Tuesday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gabriel Borja looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brock Johnson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Ryder, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Stockdale lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame (SO) has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.86 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 10-4 to Sierra Canyon. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Jake Norolan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Dru Wilson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Stockdale pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame (SO), their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Stockdale came up short against Notre Dame (SO) in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 6-2. Can Stockdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
