Football Recap: Southland Comes Up Short at Home Against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown

Southland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers by a score of 28-26 on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rebels came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 243rd).

Looking ahead, Southland will face off against Fillmore Central at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, they will look to defend their home field on September 5 against Lewiston-Altura at 7:00 p.m.
