Ethan Rivera and Johnny Aguiluz were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rivera tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Aguiluz struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rivera has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rivera scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Aguiluz scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Nuview Bridge is undefeated when Rivera posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Nelson Lara was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Carson Lagor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Santa Rosa Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let California Military Institute get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Wednesday.
Santa Rosa Academy also got a great performance from Luke Erbacher as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Erbacher a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Santa Rosa Academy let Luke Hamilton and Dominic Zagone run wild. Hamilton scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Zagone scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Zagone a new career-high in RBI (three). Maxwell Dupree also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Santa Rosa Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Santa Rosa Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Nuview Bridge, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Nuview Bridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Santa Rosa Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Nuview Bridge couldn't quite finish off Santa Rosa Academy in their previous matchup back in March and fell 4-2. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
