Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kern Valley). They claimed a resounding 79-17 win over the Mammoth Huskies. The Broncs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Kern Valley to victory were Naomi Tapia and Ava Elliott. Tapia went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Elliott went 5 for 6 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Elliott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Jayda Bushling was another key player, putting up six points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.
Kern Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Audrey Borunda, who posted four points and seven boards. What's more, Borunda also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Esme Carrillo, who had six points.
The victory made it two in a row for Kern Valley and bumps their season record up to 14-3. As for Mammoth, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Kern Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-33 win against Boron on the 28th. Mammoth has also already played their next contest, a 59-16 defeat against Bishop Union on the 28th.
