The Lyons Lions will challenge the Willowbrook Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lyons 2.4, Willowbrook 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Lyons came up short against Hinsdale Central and fell 5-1.
Lyons saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Ragsdale, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Willowbrook entered their tilt with Berwyn/Cicero Morton on Thursday with 24 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 25. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 11-7. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly four runs.
Willowbrook let Jake Bonino and Charlie Roelle run wild. Bonino went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Roelle went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Roelle a new career-high. Tommy Roelle was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Willowbrook's victory bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Lyons, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lyons hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Willowbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lyons couldn't quite finish off Willowbrook in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
