The Chadwick Dolphins lost against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Chadwick took a 37-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kares. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chadwick in their matchups with the Kares: they've now lost five in a row.
Rio Hondo Prep found their leader in underclassman Evonny Ortega, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ortega has scored all season.
Chadwick's loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.9 points per game. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chadwick will challenge the Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Providence presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Dolphins in California (the Pioneers are ranked 262nd, while the Dolphins are ranked 948th). As for Rio Hondo Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
