The Colquitt County Packers have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Westlake Lions at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Colquitt County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 497 points over their last 11 matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Colquitt County had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Parkview as Colquitt County made off with a 51-25 win. Considering Colquitt County has won seven matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colquitt County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Neko Fann, who threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Fann was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Day'shawn Brown, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Colquitt County, adding 15 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Brett Fitzgerald: he added nine points with three field goals, and another six kicking extra points.
Meanwhile, Westlake waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Marietta with points to spare, taking the game 34-15. Given Westlake's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Marietta is ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colquitt County's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Lincoln and 9-2 Lee County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Colquitt County came up short against Westlake in their previous meeting back in August of 2021, falling 31-24. Can Colquitt County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
