Given West Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Mastery Charter North - Pickett is ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasmine Butler led the charge by scoring 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Butler has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sakinah Abdus-salaam, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Mastery Charter North - Pickett lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordyn Searles. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points.
The win makes it two in a row for West Catholic and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Mastery Charter North - Pickett, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-9.
