Royal is a perfect 10-0 against Oak Park since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Royal's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bellflower 2-0. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Caden Sramek looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Royal secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Noah Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Oak Park came out on top against Hoover on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Tornados 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 27, 2024.
Tyler Kutsch made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kutsch was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cyrus Javadi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Berro, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Oak Park and bumps their season record up to 6-10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Royal, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Everything went Royal's way against Oak Park when the teams last played back in March, as Royal made off with a 14-2 victory. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
