Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trego). They walked away with a 56-46 win over the Wichita County Indians on Friday. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 58-8 victory the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trego to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Conness, who rushed for 142 yards and four scores. Conness is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Wynn, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Trego was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Trego didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Wynn, Darris Brown, and Vladon Crawford picked up one apiece. Wynn got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Wichita County lost, don't look at Cashton Young. Despite the final result, he rushed for 342 yards and five TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Young was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. A healthy portion of Young's aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Dylan Luna, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
The win keeps Trego at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 45.0 points this season. As for Wichita County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trego will take on Ellis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Railroaders will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Wichita County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ness City. The Indians will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
