The Cumberland Valley Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (the Central Dauphin Rams had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cumberland Valley took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Dauphin. While losing is never fun, Cumberland Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Central Dauphin is ranked 40th).
Cumberland Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sienna Manns, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Warren, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Cumberland Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are 1-3 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Central Dauphin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Cavoli, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Cavoli is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ferguson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cumberland Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Central Dauphin, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Cumberland Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Carlisle at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cumberland Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday. Central Dauphin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Palmyra at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Central Dauphin's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Palmyra's offense will have their work cut out for them.
